I just changed job scope, and the colleague who handled that before me shared her experience with me. Knowledge sharing is a 2-way thing. Experienced colleagues can’t recall everything so you have to ask them questions to jolt their memory.
I was previously recruited into a role as a Records Management specialist, to assist inter alia, with the selection, configuration & implementation of a new EDRMS. My manager who was very skilled at managing large projects, was regularly asking me questions about RM to increase his underestanding, but was never reciprocal in sharing his knowledge. There was also never any recongition of my knowledge sharing. The desire to share then begins to fade.
